Local Heros Recognized

Local Heros Recognized, people, fire staff, plaque of recognition

The Garden Valley Fire Protection District recognized two locale heroes at a board meeting on January 25, 2022. The two community members, Christina Scareborough and Jodi Reinke, drove upon a single vehicle accident on the evening on December 13, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m. The driver, partially pinned in the vehicle, was semi-conscious and incoherent. While on the phone with 911 emergency dispatcher, the engine compartment ignited. The fire was rapidly spreading and immediately put the solo occupant in danger. Christina and Jodi rapidly extricated the driver and pulled her to safety.

Fire crews form Cal Fire Amador-El Dorado Unit, Garden Valley Fire, and an ambulance out of Georgetown Fire responded. Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and render aid to the driver. The woman was transported to Marshall Hospital to be evaluated.

Both women were presented with a framed certificate of recognition from the fire district. Friends and family were in attendance for the presentation. Director Mark Spaugh expressed to the two that “It is a pleasure to live in a community with individuals like you.”
