Garden Valley Fire Protection District to Host Junior Firefighter Safety Camp
The Garden Valley Fire Protection District is proud to announce an upcoming Junior Firefighter Safety Camp, a free educational event recommended for children ages 4 to 10. This half-day program will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on June 22, 2025 at The Garden Valley Fire Station, 4860 Marshall Rd. Garden Valley, CA.
The event aims to foster early awareness of fire safety and emergency preparedness through a series of structured, hands-on activities led by professional firefighters. Participants will rotate through interactive stations that focus on key safety skills, including how to recognize fire, what to do in emergencies, and safely evacuate a building.
The camp itinerary includes:
- A fire safety story session tailored for young audiences
- Instruction on dialing 911, understanding smoke alarms, and practicing stop-drop-roll
- A guided tour of fire engines and firefighter gear
- A junior obstacle course simulating real-life firefighting challenges
- A safe house escape drill to reinforce home evacuation procedures
- A live hose demonstration and water activity (participants are encouraged to bring a towel)
Snacks and refreshments will be provided, including allergy-conscious options. All participants will receive a Graduation Certificate upon completion of the program at our "Badge Pinning Ceremony".
This community outreach initiative reflects the district’s continued commitment to public education and youth engagement. By introducing safety principles in a supportive and engaging format, the event helps lay the groundwork for responsible decision-making in emergency situations.
Participation is free, but space is limited (30 kids). Families are encouraged to register early by completing the Registration Form.
A release of liability form is required for each participant. The form can be dowloaded below and returned to rhoward@gardenvalley.org or, brought with your child to the event.
